| Married June 23, 1973 at Cherrelyn Baptist Church, Englewood, CO. Our Children Jason Walter, born October 11, 1975 James Waide, born March 13, 1984, deceased December 16, 1999 Jane Witney, born December 13, 1986 Vicki As a teen, Vicki professed her faith in Christ’s atonement & resurrection. She graduated from Arapahoe High School, Littleton, CO; after two years as a member of Cherrelyn Baptist Church, Englewood, CO, attended Faith Baptist Bible College; and, in 2003, completed and received her Bachelor of Science in Management from Houghton College. Tim Tim attended Fortaleza Academy, Baptist Mid-Missions’ school for missionary children, in Brazil. At age thirteen, he placed his faith in Christ as Savior & became a member of First Baptist Church, Hamburg, NY. Tim is a graduate of Faith Baptist Bible College, Ankeny, IA. Formal Authorization Baptist Mid-Missions’ Missionary Apprentice: Tim - 1971, Vicki - 1973 Youth Ministries, First Baptist Church, Norwalk, IA 1973 - 1976 Authorized for Missionary Service by Baptist Mid-Missions 1976 Commissioned for Missionary Service by First Baptist Church, Norwalk, IA 1977 Church Membership at First Baptist Church, Hamburg, NY Baptist Mid-Missions´ Missionaries since 1977 Arrived in Brazil for Missionary Service Fall 1978 Our support is by faith-based gifts from individuals and U.S. and Canadian Baptist churches. Ministry Emphasis Church Planting & Support Ministries Youth & Adult Ministries 50/50 Plan - Partnering with National Ministry Leaders Participants in Church for the Deaf & Vila Baptist Church, Petrolina Our Ministry Tim: serving as pastor/missionary in area congregations and teaching in 3 area churches, constructing church buildings and parsonages, as well as, participating in radio ministry; also serves on the Board of the Cariri Valley Theological Seminary. Vicki: correspondence, specific projects and support ministries, occasional counseling, and learning Brazilian Sign Language. Accomplishments in 2007 Tim: Read several key books, carefully listened to over 100 messages by John Piper, Alistair Begg, Steve Brown, and Fred Smith; built a parsonage for our first national pastor of the Deaf believers and his family. Vicki: Acquired the know-how and built our website; prepared and mailed over 3000 letters; completed the church photo and testimony album; revised a book for and written by a missionary colleague; completed curtains for the parsonage and two church classrooms; completed daughter’s new wardrobe (sewing); read the following books: Now, Discover Your Strengths by Buckingham & Clifton; Strengths Finder 2.0 by Tom Rath; A Sacred Sorrow by Card; The Cry of The Soul by Allender & Longman; What to Eat if You have Cancer by Keane & Chace; Soul Talk by Larry Crabb; and The Tipping Point By Gladwell. Personal goals for 2008 Tim: Stay focused on Christ´s relationship to me; prepare each Bible message and lesson with "food" I have tasted; prepare a national to minister to our congregation during our furlough; devote time to making two new friends; continue to mentor our young pastor. Vicki: Continue to make healthy lifestyle choices, keep up with exercise program, and lose a bit more weight; read 1-2 Christian “self-help” books, 1-2 management books, and 1-2 books for entertainment; begin preparing for furlough speaking; encourage believers through empathy and private one-on-one counseling; better understand my strengths and use them. Special Projects for 2008 The acquisition of funds for construction of an auditorium for our new church, which is the sister congregation of the Church for the Deaf. Presently, we meet in a small covered area next to the new property of the church. We have $13,000 of the $32,000 needed for the first phase.
